FAQ

Get back to the person who invited you and say 3 WORDS PLEASE! They’ll send you the current 3-word concept.
From your available artwork, choose one piece that best fits an aspect of the 3-word concept you’ve been given (the connection can be loose!) and that is available during the exhibition dates (August 7, 2026 — September 25, 2026).
Come up with 3 words about your own artwork—this is the new exhibition concept!
Identify an artist you know (or two) who makes work related to some aspect of the new theme you just created. Invite the artist(s) you’ve identified by sending them the flyer you initially received, and be ready to send along the new 3-word exhibition concept.
Fill out the form at the bottom of this page. The curator of the exhibition will reach out to provide additional details.
-
Please tell the person who invited you that you can’t participate at this time. We appreciate you letting them know as quickly as possible so that they can find a suitable alternate artist to keep the game going.
-
Nope, you’re right; our timeline is tight (though new work may still be added after the exhibition begins). This will be a show consisting almost entirely of existing artworks, so don’t stress about making something new!
-
We have a fair amount of flexibility, but this will shift as the game continues and our roster gets more full, so these constraints may change. Wall work should be less than 60 inches on each side and can be any medium. For video work, artist must provide all required equipment. Sculptural work is also welcomed.
All artwork must arrive ready to hang or install, with all necessary hardware attached.
Once you fill out the form, the curator will reach out to discuss your plans and to confirm feasibility. -
Feel free to play it as fast and loose with the theme as you need. If you have a work that connects with just one word you were given, even in a very tangential way, that’s good enough.
If you’re REALLY stuck, email naomi@naomialessandra.com. -
It doesn’t need to be anything more or less than a list of 3 words that relate to your artwork. You may wish to include one word from the list you were originally given, or all three can be entirely new words—it’s entirely up to you.
The words you choose can be adjectives, nouns, verbs, or any other parts of speech. They can be a genre, like “portrait,” they can describe an object in the work, like “fruit” or “mom,” they can be a color, like “orange,” they can be a concept, like “geometric” or “ephemeral,” or “texture,” they can describe the medium, like “painting”…the list goes on.
It’s ideal to include words that the artist(s) you want to invite can relate to in some way—but also, don’t be afraid to be offbeat, conceptual, or very specific with at least one of your words. -
The artist(s) you invite only need to relate to one of the 3 words—not all 3. If you really can’t think of anyone who connects with any of your 3 words, you have a couple of options:
Make your theme a little more inclusive by changing one or more of your words (if you do this, make sure to let the curator know).
Reach out to the curator, Naomi, who will help troubleshoot.
-
If the artist you invited can’t do it, ask someone else! If you can’t think of anyone else to ask, let the curator know as soon as possible and we’ll help identify the next person in the chain.
Ideally the baton should be passed within just a couple of days, so please let us know quickly if you’re having trouble. -
Email the curator and we’ll get back to you right away to help troubleshoot.

Yes, there is a modest stipend for artists. The amount distributed to each will be determined by the total number of final participants in the show. Since this exhibition is dynamic and artists may continue to be added during the run of the exhibition, we won’t know the final amount we can provide to artists for a while yet.
As this will be a show that includes many artists, please know that the stipend will be very modest indeed.
If you would like to participate in an Artist Talk, please get in touch. Additional funds may be available to artists for such programming.
